SNP NUDGE AHEAD EVEN IN WESTMINSTER VOTING INTENTIONS
MOMENTUM CONTINUES AHEAD OF LOCAL ELECTIONS
An analysis of the latest Scottish sub-samples across four different polling companies has shown the SNP leading Labour even in voting intentions for Westminster, with an increase in support of 17 per cent since the last UK General Election, with Labour down 5 points.
Commenting, SNP Campaigns Director Angus Robertson said:
“Five days out from the council elections, it is extraordinary that the SNP are now nudging ahead of Labour even in Westminster voting intentions.
“These are only indications, but they are extremely positive. We are getting great feedback from our candidates and activists on the doorsteps – but we are not taking anything for granted.
“It must be extremely concerning for Labour that the SNP are a nose ahead in a combined sample even for Westminster voting intentions – given that the SNP do even better in Scottish elections.
“It just shows how Labour has pitched its local government campaign wrongly.
"Whilst the SNP campaigns for jobs, jobs, jobs our opponents are mired in throwing mud, mud, mud as they have no response to the SNP’s positive vision.
“There are five days to go, and the SNP will continue to work hard on the ground to deliver our positive message that SNP Councils across the country will deliver a fairer deal for families.
“The SNP’s positive vision includes safer communities by retaining
1,000 extra police on our streets, continuing the Council Tax freeze and deliver further free and flexible nursery hours.”
