The fresh food group Bakkavor opened its second factory at its Caledonian Produce site in Bo’ness today, April 27, 2012. Falkirk East MSP Angus MacDonald was present to congratulate Bakkavor and to highlight the positive impacts that this will have on the community of Bo’ness.
Bakkavor is a leading international producer of fresh prepared foods and produce that has a site in Bo’ness. According to their human resources manager, Jayne Patterson, they have been able to expand and open a new factory thanks to the commitment of their loyal workforce.
The opening of this plant will create 60 new jobs, bringing the total number of staff on site to over 1,200.
Mr MacDonald MSP for Falkirk East, who is a member of the Scottish Parliament’s Economy Committee and a member of Falkirk Council’s Planning Committee when the Bridgeness Road Facility was approved, said:
“On the day after the announcement that the UK is in a double dip recession, although there are signs that Scotland has escaped that, it is extremely refreshing that we have such a good news story as this one in Bo’ness.”
“As a former member of Falkirk Council’s Planning Committee, one of my last acts last year before standing down from the committee was to approve the Bridgeness Road Facility .”
“It is certainly a sign of good management practices that so much goodwill given by the people towards Bakkavor Caledonian Produce, helped by the links with Bo’ness Academy.”
“So, in closing can I congratulate the whole team, the management, the workforce and everyone else who has ensured that the Bakkavor Caledonian Produce site is a success story and I hope that this site in Bo’ness will continue to go from strength to strength.”
